>From: Douglas McAdam >Re: Large Files / Vol 2005, #139 In my case my email server default setting is 20 Megabytes per account but I reduce this to 5 Mb because I specifically want to bounce large files that people accidentally send. It's not unknown for a Windoze newbie to send me the entire contents of his Hard Drive!
So your first move must be to decide if TIFF is an appropriate format. It is if your file is to be used as the front cover of a glossy magazine. Otherwise, probably not, in which case choose a compressed format or simply reduce the dimensions of the image. If it's for on-screen viewing only, reduce the resolution to 72dpi. 2. Ensure that the recipient *wants* the file and has enough space in his email server. It never fails to amaze me how many people send me huge image files because "it's funny" or "I thought it might interest you". 3. Ensure that both ISPs permit such large file sizes.
