I have a similar setup, Neville, with a G3 Pismo - on which I manage my email. I have only recently upgraded to OSX (10.4.5) and quite often when I go to collect mail (perhaps only when there is an attachment?) it hangs on the Connection. My work around has been to click on Stop - at which point it stops hanging and downloads! Same problem?
