Where i criticise google and others like them, is the haughty taughty "we are morally superior" attitudes, when they are just another capitalistic business. Google is fair to criticise not because of what they do, but because of what they say before they do. China is just one area where the company is hypocritical. Google has two choices, 1) pretend to be morally superior and get criticised, or 2) drop the act, grow up, and be a real business. Based on the past years indicators, Google is in a downward spiral as far as their direction goes, and if they don't "grow up", they will be worth 25% of todays stock value in just a couple years. They are trying to go everywhere, be everything, and becoming rudderless, all while proclaiming themselves to be better than everyone. just like Apple in the 80's and 90's. There are 10 types of people in the world: those that understand binary, and those that don't.
