 The latest version is 1.5.0.2, released within the last month. Your
friend should download that from <http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/>
and see if the bug he sees has been fixed. If it persists, feel free to
contact me off-list with details and I'll search bugzilla to see if it's
been reported already. If it hasn't I'd be happy to file a bug report.

 I like Thunderbird too and think that it's the best option for people
switching from Claris Emailer. Thunderbird is configurable, almost
unbelievably so, and the UI layout can be made quite similar to
Emailer's for those who like it that way (as I do).
