Arrival of new MacBook Pro laptop has necessitated what I hope will be temporary switch to PowerMail until Classic support becomes practical on MacIntels - or the rewritten Emailer emerges.
Why PowerMail? It seemed closest in look and feel to Emailer and can be configured to resemble it. More so than Mail, Entourage and other clients I looked at briefly. But it still has a few rough edges and is less intuitive than Emailer, sometimes requiring an additional step, eg need to run a script in order to change heading of incoming messages. Importing directly is no more advisable than into Entourage or Mail. Most reliable method is to get Emailchemy ($25 from weirdkid.com) to convert Emailer's database into a standard formate that PowerMail (or any of the other email clients) can import reliably. Even so Emailer's addressbook didn't come over automatically. PowerMail seems generally more powerful than the alternatives (excepting Mailsmith perhaps), less klunky than Entourage (yes, I know they share an author but MS seems to me to have bestowed their klunk magic upon it), and more intuitive than Mail. But I am still pining for Emailer and hope to get back to it in due course.
