OK, press [alt][cmd] and [8] then try again. Or... In your OSX Finder menu bar click [Apple icon] --> System Preferences. Keyboard & Mouse and click the [Keyboard Shortcuts] tab. Ensure that "Turn zoom on or off" is checked. (For those with a very old keyboard: alt = option. cmd = pretzel).
