Actually Chris I tried two disks and both were CD-RW.
You still can't "delete" items from a CD-RW like you were attempting to do, that is drag them to the trash.
You can add more data to a CD-RW, and as long as it wasn't "closed" you can change the file table so that it "appears" like things have been deleted.
But in the end, it is usually easiest to just erase the CD-RW and start again. I don't off the top of my head know how the Finder handles CD-RW discs as I really don't use Disc Burn in the finder. I use Toast for my CD burning needs. And with the cost difference between CD-RW and regular CD-R discs, I find it easiest to just buy CD-R in bulk and not worry about reusing them.
If you want more details about how to use CD-RW media, I recommend you check the Help menu in the Finder and look for Disc Burn. Or check the Discussion groups on Apple's web site and search there for info on burning CDs and CD-RWs.
