For the record.. I am using Classic and OS X mixed, and I am very happy.

The only situation where I get the behaviour where a file doesn't show op 
in the directory list, is when the directory is on a network, and you 
started Classic prior to connecting to the network volume.

So, whenever I use network volumes (which is all the time), I first het 
the volume icons on the Mac OS X finder desktop, and (only) then I start 
the Classic app such as Emailer.

It works smoothles over here.
