This is mainly for Outlook users, and it only applies to systems where
executable files such as .PIF, .EXE, .VBS (Visual Basic) can be excuted.
Mac OS 9 (CLASSIC) cannot execute these files.

On Apple Mac OS, there could be a danger in Applescript files, but only
if you manually execute them or if you are 'such an intelligent person'
that you would program emailer in a mail-action to execute whatever
attachment it receives. But in that case I will nominate you for the
Nobel Prize of... you know what. So dont do that.

With newer Apple systems using Unix and INTEL, the risk of having virus
trouble is increasing. The risk of spyware including computer
manufacturers themselve spying, is increasing.

Mac OS 7 or 8 or 9 with Emailer is one of safest methods of working,
because all mail is treated as TEXT content, en unless you define so,
nothing is executed or interpreted or any action taken based upon the
things you receive via mail.

Please tell all PC users you may know to set their Outlook such that any
outgoing mail is sent as TEXT, with NO HTML. And also use the setting:
"Send reply mails in the same format they were received in" to NO. So
that even a reply to a mail which was HTML, goes out in TEXT.

If on Windows, all users did just that, and not bend for marketing
purposes, then mail would be a much safer place. And off course turn OFF
all settings that automatically unpack, unzip, or execute whatever
attachment, until you manually decide to.
