POBOX, at www.pobox.com, also offers a port 587 service. I use it instead of my ISP's service because My ISP blocks port 25 for email traffic that does not reach the port via their own internet connection, That made it kinda hard to use a laptop anywhere but at home - the last place I want to use one.
That is the error I see so often with ISPs that block port 25 access. They block in while on their network, and then give no way to connect to their servers when off network, making it a royal PITA for laptop users to send mail.
I run port 587 access on my mail server specifically for this reason. My sister's ISP is one of the offending ISPs, so I give her outbound access on my server so she doesn't have to constantly change mail servers depending on where she is with her laptop.
