Dear Tannis,
On my CE with Mac OS 10.3, i get the degree by pressing Option-Shift-8.
On my Dutch Classic within Dutch Mac OS X, I can still open the Key Caps
control panel as it used to be before.
I hope this makes your life fairer and easier, as also all the other
intentions are intended to, but as soon as they're said on a topic called
'politics', nobody reads them anymore. I also certainly hope to be part
of this list because of CE in the first and dominant place.
But I also care about the people that I get to know, no matter on what
side of what ocean and freezing or steamy temperature they are in. I do
not believe that politics should be concentrated and confined to a sealed
package which makes is easy to discard.
The fact that we are all having tons of spam, is because giant
commercial companies get thru with their agenda, taking care of push
email and marketing; while 90% of people who are just 'living' dont get
organized because as soon as they find agreement on some IT or technical
or financial or economical aspect of things, they apparently cross a
border.
That clarifies why all those people live today with 90% bandwith to WATCH
commercial offers, and less than 10% bandwith in their ADSL to SEND just
an order.
In normal life, there would not be an overwhelming capacity for dumping
information onto people, and there would be much more balance between
reading and creating and sharing information.
In normal life, people who want to type and print a letter, would not
have a 3GHz speed and 3GB RAM and 80GB DISK computer, when even the
processor inside their keyboard has overcapacity to do wordprocessing.
I try to walk thru life by doing an hounest work and giving answers that
are as good as possible. And you would be amazed how much of IT has
been seriously damaged because dominant people have invaded with 'their'
way of politics, and majority of living people see those subjects merely
as something to avoid all the time.
Those topics, and I dont call them politics, should be present everywhere
but in portions such as salt and pepper on a good dinner. IT has
changed peoples lives, and because of that, it needs to happen neatly,
and always in the interest of the people that use it.
