I have a similar mail action setup as you, Bill - but, until recently, I
have been emptying my Deleted folder in a more cirucuitous way using
Trash Attachments script and then selecting and deleting the folder
contents.

I now prefer Shred Messages for clearing out my Deleted Folder. Thanks
for the tip!

However, I don't know about you, but my Attachments folder (a separate
folder to my Downloads folder which I have created for email attachments
only - web-based downloads go into the Downloads folder, of which I have
only one regardless of the browser I am using....) is usually STILL full
of attachments sent to me by friends.

I deal with them as follows, once I have dealt with the mail in my In
Box, (much of my "good" mail goes there first):

- with the first mail open, I either file the mail into another folder
using pulldown in upper left, disregarding any attachment OR

- run Trash Attachments (a script which leaves the mail intact), file the
mail using pull down and then either

- click on the Arrow Down button in the left hand corner to move onto
the next mail OR

- Option clicking the arrow will Trash the message as you move on. If
you use Trash Message and Attachment instead of Trash Attachments, you
cannot use the Arrow clicking action to move on - it is then dimmed.

The advantage of this method is the ability to review the contents as you
go through your In Box and trash or not trash its contents and/or
attachments.

SO, if anyone needs the Trash(just the) Attachments script, please let me
know.

Every now and then I open the still amazingly full Attachments folder and
deal with each attachment that is STILL in there individually. I was
saying I especially like dealing with the Deleted Folder using Shred
Messages cuz you can easily process the whole folder - resulting in fewer
stray and nefarious attachments left in the Attachment folder to deal
with (I don't like finding myself opening a spam attachment thus inviting
even more spam!)
