I learned two interesting things at macWorld. 1. The reason my Emailer breaks so many attachments is a bug introduced in Tiger, around 10.4.4, or 10.4.5. It broke the mechanism which parses headers, so attachments can lose their suffix. This does not only happen to emailer, but other clients can update, obviously.
2. There is a mail developer willing to make their product more suitable to emailer converts. I explained I needed to move to intel soon, and would have to make a break. He asked, "What are the ten most important features that you must have to switch?" lets make a list. We don't have to stop at ten, what I will do, though, is compare our list to the product they write and parse it down to ten or so that they cannot do. Lets not speculate who it is for now, its not fair to them, but if we can get a client that does 95% or more of our needs, we can wait for Emailer-X or whatever, if such a beast eventually shows up. ;-) Lets start here, in no particular order (don't stop at ten, keep adding!): 1. rename a incoming/outgoing message simply by typing. No scripts/second steps. 2. receive simple html-free email all the time. Parse out the html always. 3. Manage multiple email addresses seemlessly, with different smtp servers for each. 4. seperate - most important scripts 5. Single click to ad to group. Multiple message/address selection to add to groups 6. Signature management, different settings to different addresses, including random sig. 7. schedules for different accounts 8. scriptable filters/mail actions 9. auto-file messages 10. folders/subfolders, drag and reorder capability 11. Locations (for changing smtp and other settings by location) keep adding! 12. Setting to send from different addresses by default. Scripts: export many messages to text resend messages, and edit and resend ability mark as sent/unsend, read/unread, clean forward unwrap Mark James garlic @ veggy.com This is an actual unsubscribe message from spam: "The subject matter was sent to you because you bespoke to be imparted of knowledge of biddings from either us or one of us collaborators, if you do not need to obtain offers from us again have the will to meet us here."
