Like, find a way to reinstall 1.1v4, or something sufficiently similar that I know how to use it. I don't have the original software (I've imported it from computer to computer way back to my Mac Plus, through the Performa, etc.) Could someone send me a way to install it, and tell me how to keep my existing Personal Folders, email collection from before, either separately or as part of the new system. Separately would be fine, as at this point it's archival. I do not have CD writing capability on my iMac.

I believe 1.1v4 is the free "Lite" version that Apple was offering. That should still be available to download via Apple's web site. You just have to do some digging to find the old archives section.

As for keeping the old mail. Emailer v1 keeps all the mail as individual files and folders. So in your Emailer folder there should be some folder for the mail (sorry, I haven't used v1 in so long I can't tell you exactly where or what it is called). Inside that mail folder should be a hierarchy of all your email and its folders. Just save that whole enclosing mail folder if you just want to save the email. Although the better option is to save the entire Emailer folder. That way you get the application, email, address book, and all other support files.

The easiest way to save it is to compress it into an archive using Stuffit or your favorite compression program.

After that, you can install a new fresh copy, and if you want to bring over your old stuff, you should be able to just swap that mail folder and the new install should start using the old email. You should be able to do the same with your address book and any other files you need (I remember if v1 supported things like signatures and mail actions).
