I switched back to the non-587 "Auth" version of Emailer and my email went out perfectly through Verizon. >Do you *need* the port 587 version for MacDialup? Or are >you just using it because you felt like it? I need Port 587 because I use public wi-fi hotspots when on the road. At home now I'm on Verizon wireless but I keep my MacDialup account and use it as my POP server because it's cheap, the tech support is personal and friendly, and it's a backup both at home if Verizon has outages, and on the road if there is no hotspot where I happen to be. It was the MacDialup tech, who is a former Emailer user, who emailed me the p3-587 when it went over my head that that was what I needed. Never can have too much advice when you are a low-power-user. I don't plan to use my Verizon account for sending email, but I wanted to get it set up so that it works just in case. It looks like, if I do want to use the Verizon account to send, I will have to switch to the non-587 Emailer, and if on the road use dialup to get my mail out. That's not so bad if I can use the public wi-fi for everything else, and then make a dialup connection just to get the outgoing email out. But it's a good reason to keep using MacDialup as my POP and avoid the switcheroo when on the road. Thanks to both Chris and Mark James for getting this glitch ironed out!
