You'll probably get more help if you post in the relevant Mac forums or use a mailing list such as Mac-L.

Be sure to include details such as the modem make/model, your Mac OS, and confirmation that you've connected a DSL filter correctly. Also state what lights appear on the modem and what error messages you see.

I use a router myself.
