I installed BitPim on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.4.10), after I bought a
supposedly compatible cable, to make my LG VX-4500 talk to my Mac.

It was a disaster. BitPim put its drivers in unknown locations on the Mac,
leaving no log or trace of evidence. BitPim saw the LG phone, but couldn't
do anything with it.

Shortly after, the MacBook Pro started to have a kernel panic upon wake from
sleep. I could not be certain that it was the BitPim installation that
caused the kernel panic problem, but since there was no way to find its
hidden components, I couldn't even try to remove them.

I tried an Archive and Install, but that did not solve the kernel panic
problem. Eventually I reformatted the drive and did a new installation of
OS 10.4.8 (which came with my MacBook Pro), and moved up through most of the
updates. The kernel panic on wake after sleep has not returned, but I also
have not installed every last update after the 10.4.10 update.

Anyway, I won't be putting BitPim back on my system.
