Apple actually has a pretty good list of available software on their own web site. Check under the Downloads section.

You can also find things via Version Tracker and whatever other download sites you want to use.

Personally, I scan thru the Apple site from time to time just to see what is available that I might be able to use but hadn't thought of using. If there is something specific I am trying to accomplish, I tend to just go to Google and type in the topic and "OS X" after it and see what turns up.
