Hello, all!

This retard is "finally" moving forward. Joy reigns!

I hung on with my "Original PowerBook G3" in 8.6 for ages.

Lately I have been doing Emailer in Classic on my $225 eBay
Wallstreet in 10.2.8 with absolutely no trouble. But the
machine is too slow for a lot of other things. The Wallstreet
HAS allowed me to keep all my SCSI and ADB peripherals.

Now, I got a PowerBook G4 from eBay which came loaded with
10.5.6 and all kinds of goodies. To give it what it needs,
I got (whine) all new peripherals and a new backup HD.

I also got a 10.4 install disk on eBay. I used 10.5.6 to
magically partition the HD into three parts, to install 10.4
on one partition and 9.2.2 on another - WITHOUT having to
erase the HD first and WITHOUT losing 10.5.6 or any of the
other goodies that were there originally.

When I booted in 10.4, it asked if I wanted to update it,
I said OK, and it immediately became 10.4.11.

Then everything was working fine, with the HUGE exception that
Emailer would not open. It said it wouldn't open because it
"can't find OTUTILITYLIB." I searched the HDs on both the new
and the old machines, and there never was any such file.

I kept the old advisories to clean out the "Temp Incoming Folder."
But there wasn't anything at all in that folder. I trashed that
folder anyway, and SHAZAM, Emailer works like crazy.

This "new" machine is totally magical, and I can keep all the
stuff that I have built up over a couple of decades, while I go
forward with the 10.5.6 partition. The best of both worlds.

I just want to share my "happiness" with all those on the Digest
who have been such a great part of my computer life. This is one
"retard" who is now not such a retard.

Any further advice will be appreciated, but it looks like I have
it all under control now.

Best regards,

Bill
