Hi Peter, and johnnyg, Am having the same problem with Classic. In order to get my mail I am having to quit Claris, and restart Claris for messages to download. And everything has slowed down considerably. I don't know if it will help in my situation, but I've done what you suggest to see if it helps get my mail faster and speeds things up.
Didn't know about the privacy aspect of Spotlight - but when doing this doesn't it mean Searchlight won't be able to find items one uses every day if they are that Privacy folder ? In addition every time I download my incoming messages I get an alert that says it can't find a file attachment that was Outgoing. I had it happen once before long ago and can't remember what I did to cure it, except to copy the wording in the alert exactly in trying to locate it.
