Alas, there were enough reasons for me to change over to Apple
Mail... which I did
about a year ago. BUT ! I've kept Emailer on my drive, since OS
10.4.11 (my OS at present)
is still capable of running Classic, and therefore Emailer.
Every so often, I after downloading Mail from the ISP server, I
follow with download of (the same)
mail in Emailer... so I have those emails on both Mail and
Emailer. I haven't found a good reason
to do this, however, and may stop.
There are several features of Emailer that I miss. One in particular
is the ability to re-name the
Subject of an email which has special interest within. Aside from
copying the message, sending
it to oneself with another subject title (nuisance) I haven't found a
satisfactory workaround in Mail.
There *is* the option of *flagging* those emails.
Bill Bandes asks for comment on Thunderbird. Sorry, Bill, never
tried it. With the ever-expanding
universe of applications, I'm having a hard time choosing those that
are not supported by Apple....
which I don't believe Thunderbird *is*.
Bea Hopkinson tells about trouble sending attachments to PC users
(while using Emailer.)
I vaguely remember the same exact problem. If I'm correct, the
advice given was to send the
file as AppleDouble (whatever that protocol provides.) And,
always compress the file.
Aside from that, I cannot be of help.
I'll end this with a bit of a plug ... one for my Macintosh User
Group here in the SF Bay Area.
With six hundred members, several of whom are out of state (Hawaii,
Wisconsin, Maine, Washington)
and others in various places in California.. *not* local, we
provide great advice and hands-on
workshop repairs to people with Macs. In addition, a monthly
newsletter that has timely articles
by members. And most importantly (to my thinking) a bulletin board
that allows for back&forth
exchange between members.... many of whom are top-level Mac techies
with experience going
back to "The Beginning."
For a measly $35 per year, members are able to get almost every
question about their system
answered using the BBS, and information about anything Macintosh.
No need to sit out there wondering. If you're a Mac user, (and yes,
you *are*) you would gain enormous satisfaction
by becoming a member: Dial up: DVMUG.org (Stands for Diablo
Valley Macintosh Users Group)
and includes a Gateway to MUGs in Boston, and the replacement for
the former group in Berkeley BMUG.
I am a mere member; but an enthusiastic one for ?fifteen years.
Can't do you harm to give DVMUG a looksee.
There are members who are proud of their Vintage Macs.... such as my
2002 Quicksilver. Whatever you have,
there's someone on DVMUG to share your concerns/problems.
Cheers from Walnut Creek to every stalwart soul who remains
interested in and user of Emailer.

Any of you old Emailers tried it? Is it any good?
Still using Emailer in 10.4, but want to keep my ear to the ground.
Best regards,
Bill

Wow, the emailer list still lives!
But I'm sorry I can't help. I've been using Apple Mail for a few
years, and forget what CE was like.

Hi there - is everybody still out there - or have you all switched.
Havn't heard from anybody lately??
I need some help analysing why some PC owners cannot open my
attachments
to an Email. I send them as Base64 encoded, though there are other
options I don't understand: BinHex, UUencode, Apple single and Apple
Double!
I was told this morning I should use for pictures '.jpeg' endings
instead of 'jpg', but as this is true also for endings with .doc
it must
be something else? Can someone please help.
Hope all is well with everybody,
Bea (Hopkinson)
