Yes. Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) and Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy)
both have suitable versions of GTK, with no updates
needed. I'm pretty sure all versions of BDI-4.xx
also have the required GTK. Even if the older ones
don't, they are based on Debian so apt-get or synaptic
can be used to easily fetch and istall a newer version.

The only systems affected by this are very old in
computer terms: the original BDI-2 series (based on
Red Hat 6.2), BDI-TNG (RedHat 7.x) and the very first
live CD version, BDI-Live (morphix or knoppix).

Looking at the gtk.org website history, the version
release dates are as follows:

1.2 - 1999 or earlier
2.0 - March 2002
2.2 - December 2002
2.4 - March 2004
2.6 - December 2004
2.8 - August 2005
2.10 - July 2006

So we are currently requiring something that is 2-1/2
years old. That seems reasonable to me.

Also - keep in mind that EMC2 itself will run fine
without GTK. It is only needed if you want to use
halscope, halmeter, halvcp, and Classicladder.

John Kasunich
