on EMC2 since the CNC Workshop last June, and mostly since very early 2006. So, yes, not only stable, but offering a lot more capability than EMC1 had. The development head driver for USC supports 8 extra digital ouptuts or a DAC for something like spindle speed control on all USC boards. Due to an omission, older UPC boards don't have that extra output, but can be upgraded for $25. For the same price, any old USC or UPC board can be upgraded to support synching axes to the spindle. I don't understand all the ramifications of this, but it seems some changes to EMC2 at some point changed the way homing to an encoder index pulse worked, and so it appears that you need that update if you want to use the axis index pulses to refine the home position. I am going to be investigating this over the next week or so to make sure homing to the index mark really works. I have been updating my Bridgeport to use my PPMC board set, and discovered the problem with the index. So, while putting in the necessary mods, I also get spindle sync on that system, too. EMC2 has a number of differences that make it a little harder to do the changeover. Some of the settings in the old .ini file remain the same, but a number of things are different, and a lot of settings move to hal files, as well as a bunch of new things that have to be done. Specifically, if you look in http://jelinux.pico-systems.com/univpwm.html you will see a bunch of new links to sets of sample config files for different univpwm configurations. There's a plain one, one with the extra DAC already hal-wired for spindle speed, one with extra digital outputs, and one set up for threading synched to the spindle. I guess I will have to put homing into these when I get it figured out. Jon ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
