I have been using the G33.1 rigid tapping cycle on my minimill, where I
have used one of my brush PWM servo amplifiers to drive the DC spindle
motor. A recurring problem I am having is the servo amp gets an
overcurrent fault trip when reversing the spindle. The curious thing,
though, is that it is ALWAYS when the cycle is finished, and it is going
back to clockwise after backing the tap out of the hole. (Fortunate
that it is this way, too!) Anyway, is there a way to reduce the rate at
which the spindle reverses? Right now, it appear the spindle is ordered
to slam from commanded speed forward to reverse and then back again with
no acceleration at all.

Thanks,

Jon
