It is more likely that I have not completely thought through your proposal. 
I'll have to read through the code and see how you are going about
implementing it, but yes I was thinking about a general solution.  Then again
I am not sure where I was going with the thought would be the best way about it.

So you are looking at simply replacing x,y with r,t?  I see it now.  I'll have
to think about this a little once I get a little sleep (hint ;-)
