Koyo from Automation Direct is $87. The go upto 2500 ppr.
More money than you want to spend but despite their being labeled at
light duty encoders they seem to survive.
I have a couple on the Mazak, a three on the Cinci and one on the
lathe spindle (but nothing on the lathe is hooked up yet. ;-(
They also offer a hollow shaft (8mm) for the same price.
I expect to use one for the Z on the lathe also.

No magic bullets here. ;-)

All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable.
Why? It contains a definitive record of application performance, security
threats, fraudulent activity, and more. Splunk takes this data and makes
sense of it. IT sense. And common sense.
