There was experimental code to enable "high resolution" probing (where
the probe position was latched at the exact moment the probe input goes
high, instead of read out up to 1ms later).  However, that code was
buggy and has never been incorporated in a released version of emc2.

Therefore, the best way to accurately probe remains the "probe twice"
method, where the second probe takes place at a very low speed.

In the specific case of the renishaw wireless probe, there is a
substantial (multi-ms) delay in signalling that the probe is tripped, so
for this kind of probe it does not matter much for accuracy if the value
is captured .1ms or 1ms after the probe input to emc is asserted.
