Indeed. In this case mah has fixed something which was definitely
wrong in the _development_ branch, and in the process has shown up a
quirk in unrelated code which has changed a behaviour in an
unfortunate way. The correct approach in the _development_ branch is
to keep the bug fix and then move forwards to get the wanted behaviour
back, not to unroll the bug fix.
