I have some more data, and I can reliably reproduce the problem in sim
on 2.5. The problem manifests when the tool number is large.

On my Bridgeport I use tool numbers 101-104 for a pair of ER collet
holders and a pair of drill chucks; tool holders where I change the tool
often, the funny tool numbers help me remember to check the diameter & TLO.

Start the sim/axis/axis config. Home the machine. Switch to the MDI
tab, run 't1 m6 g43'. Switch to the Manual Control tab, touch off Z in
g54. Back to the MDI tab, 't101 m6 g43'. Back to the Manual tab, touch
off Z to the tool table. The DRO does not update. Back to the MDI tab,
'g43' updates the DRO.

Low-numbered tools work, high-numbered tools do not. I'm not sure where
the cut-off is.
