I solved the gcc 4.7 linking problem by using gcc 4.6 in Debian, but
it sounds like that won't help in your case with Yocoto.  :(

You can run a make with V=1 to see the gcc commands executed.  Perhaps
sifting through the compiler and linker flags will prove helpful.  I
never got around to trying this, since it was easy for me to fall back
to gcc 4.6.
