Yes we've had that feature for a very long time, and in the last
several years (since the 2.3 cutter comp rewrite) it's worked right,
too.  I think it's really useful.

OK, I do understand that.  The point still holds, though, that tangent
entry or entry at a corner is good practice if you want to get your
whole profile cut.

I am not sure it's a bug.  I think it is working as designed.  Can you
say exactly what you think the bug is, now that I have explained the
designed behavior?  I can see an argument for entry with a move that
makes a concave corner working completely differently: instead of the
end of the compensated entry move being beside the nominal entry move,
be ON the nominal entry move but beside the nominal subsequent move.
But there are a lot of situations to consider; I think that makes some
of them worse.  We would need to carefully consider the tradeoffs.
