this was my understanding/assumption all along.  So why do you consider 
treating it like an axis twisted?  It must be synchronized with the 
planar movement in the same way that a slow tool like a single point 
threading tool is fed through a piece.  It has to be fully coordinated 
to keep the volume consistently printed.
