I clearly didn't read that message closely and made an assumption that the problem was due to JAx. I see in both cases that you reported that the opposite is true. (I also assumed that since the deletion of those UIs was done on the JAx branch it was related rather than being a separate topic) Keystick behaves the way you describe not only in 2.7, but also in 2.6. It's clearly been broken a long time without much noise being made. The next version I went back to was 2.1.6 and the bug wasn't there yet .. so there are a few data points. And based on that I picked this as the most likely cause: 1589263 fix a hang seen in keystick, possibly the same as a problem reported by twice2 (possibly first in RELEASE_2_3_0_BETA1~20) .. having reverted it, continuous jogging in keystick seems to work Clearly I meant well back in 2009 when I broke it. :-/ I guess I'd better fix it now.
