Desktop recording on wheezy linuxcnc distro works for me. I added gtkRecordMyDesktop and pavucontrol then told pavucontrol to use 'monitor' for recording. Now i have a vumeter for sound level, and can record anything that comes on my desktop... sound and video.
caveat: it records whats on your desktop, so switching desktops, mice, (cats too), popups, and screenblankers can mess up the recording. I added Openshot today and trimmed some files, converting to format suited to phone so i can study just the important bits of some language vids from youtube.
