So there has been some discussion about 2.8 on the forum, as (rightfully)
requested I am moving it here.
There has been requests to merge reverse run into 2.8 before release.
It has been in master for about a year with no reported problems.
I am also interested in merging my fcode work into 2.8
I have tested a merge of both into 2.8 and there wasn't too much to it but of
course only basically tested it.

personally I am ok with merge of reverse run and if we do that, we should wait
a couple months before releasing to make sure no bugs were shaken loose.
This extra time would allow fcode to be shaken too and it's relatively simple
code to diagnose.

As for fcode vrs statetags - again my opinion when/if state tags gets merged
into master we can pull out fcode NML message and add the HAL pins from fcode
to statetags.

Keeping in mind lots of people use master on machines;
Doing these two merges into 2.8 allows some very useful/already used upgrades
while master is going to probably become unstable for a while.

Lets discuss!

What do we need to do before releasing 2.8?
I think we should try to pick a soft date and ask for official testing?

IIRC Andy was wrangling some RTAI/ISO work.
Rob on the forum is tearing up ISOs for Mint - maybe we should ask if he is
interested in being a developer?

If there a list of release items to reference?

Chris
