Putting reverse-run in to 2.8 was discussed in May 2019. The thought then
was to freeze 2.8 and get it out soon,
I still think this is the bet plan. Get 2.8 out as soon as possible,
without the risk of any new content being added.
Then plan on 2.9 following soon after. ie, not 6 years later)
Bear in mind that the release cadence of LinuxCNC used to be a lot faster,
it was only 6 months between 2.6 and 2.7.
