'Twas running at 500 hz, cranked it up to 1khz.  Servo rate.
Thanks Jon. I'll look at the halscope when I next do some tapping as I've 
got a dozen holes to do for this wannabe drive. Without putting any feet 
on it to clamp it down. Alu prices have quadrupled in the last 18 
months.  And I had to order two pieces to finish the output shaft and 
the other half of the body. Hiway robbery w/o the gun. Just as bad, my 
stock of metric screws is getting scarce. It never ends, until the fat 
lady sings.
