According to an Armbian developer I conversed with, evl/xenomai has significant performance advantages over preempt_rt on ARM based Single board computers. Xenomai is supported by the etherlab ethercat master we use to implement an ethercat system. Some ethercat users are chasing performance out to 4x our normal servo thread.This means there would be a user base who would be willing to try it. But whether it would lead to wide adoption of Xenomai is anybody's guess. Rod Webster
