     Hello all!

I have an open req for an engineer. I am looking for someone that
has experience with approving telecom products world wide. This
would including scheduling safety, emissions, and immunity testing
and conducting some telecom tests. The most important experience
is the telecom. I would consider a candidate without safety,
     emissions,and immunity background.

The business unit that the engineer would support is developing
Basic Rate and Primary Rate ISDN. The PRI is over E1/T1.
This would be the most useful experience, but other types of
telecom experience would be considered. IE if the candidate
has experience with analog approvals but not ISDN they would
     still be considered.

The job is scheduled to be based in Minnesota, but we have
engineering locations in Huntsville, Alabama and Torrance
California that I would consider locating the candidate at if
     MN is a problem.

Hi;

My boss recently packed up and left for (much) greener pastures.
Since I am not at all interested in his position, we are looking for
a replacement. This job is currently advertised in the Boston
Globe. If you would like details, or to discuss the position, please
reply to <mmert...@modicon.com>.

My own UNOFFICIAL, UNAUTHORIZED, PARAPHRASED,
and irreverent description is as follows:

Title: Product Safety Specialist

Grade: "lower-middle management" level - i.e. obscenely large
salary, big enough that drug pushers and neurosurgeons
will want to play golf with you. Buy a Lexus. Cash.

Company Background:
           A $100M wart on a multi-gigabuck international pickle. Design
and manufacture light and heavy industrial control equipment.
Stable company, loyal clientele. Very heavy emphasis on
reliability and ruggedness. NICE people (but some of us are
kinda wierd) - NICE environment as long as you really do
know how to do your job. Major emphasis on competence.
Heavily political but what else is new?

Duties:
     - General Regulatory MANAGEMENT. This is a 2-person
department doing the work of 10 people. You the Boss. Me
the Flunky. We both paddle the boat, but you steer.
      - Safety, EMC Directive, LV Directive submittals and support.
>>> Willing to get involved in the Product Liability field. <<<
     - clean hands. You wear the suit, go to meetings, play politics.
Collect the big bucks. I stay out back burning up perfectly good
equipment and jollying the FUS inspectors.
     - UL, CSA, Factory Mutual, Lloyds Register, TUV - the usual mix.
The screeners are looking for 10 years in the Regulatory field.
     - Iron stomach. Able to play World Class politics and win.
     - The guy you'll replace is a former UL engineer, but your
expectations will be considerably higher. Got it?
     - Must be able to speak with believable authority on all
international regulations related to Industrial Control Products.
Quote chapter and verse, including cross-references, drafts
of unpublished standards, and the middle name of everybody
        on every relevant Technical Committee.
