Peter,

In a past life, I had control of a screen room with double screened walls. The
manufacturer had specified connection of both screens at a single point to a
dedicated ground rod. But, it was originally connected to ground via the
electrical conduit of the power mains due to economics and location at the
time. The shielding integrity of the screen room was checked and found to be
quite good. BTW, the power supplied to the screen room was filtered at the
 screen room.

The screen room was eventually moved to another location where grounding was
obtained via a dedicated ground rod. Shielding integrity was checked again and
found to be still quite good.

So, I believe that such grounding is acceptable provided it is reliably
 connected and secured from mishandling.

At least from my expereince, such ground connection schemes appeared to make
little difference in the shielding integrity of the screened room. Perhaps
this
was due to the characteristics of a Faraday cage. Anyway, your experience may
 provide different results.

 Good luck.

 Best regards,
 Ron Pickard

Our chamber is grounded via the electrical conduit used with the mains
power. Never had a problem.
