Dear Lisa, Dear Colleagues,

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year 1999 !!!

Regarding your question,

Assumption: The Test Report for the CE Mark was made by the
manufacturer.

        1. First of all I would like to say that the terminology "CE
Approved" is incorrect. The CE Mark, can be affixed on a product by
assuming the responsibility that the product complies with the
applicable Standard requirements. [ even by using an in-house test
report ]
        2. I can not see any reason to hope that CSA will accept the
product under the CSA Certification program based on the CE Test report
made by somebody else even if CAN CSA C22.2 No.1010.1-92 including
Amendments and the applicable part 2, are very similar to EN61010-1.[ I
think that it is a normal reaction from any respectable NRTL.., and from
my point of view, CSA is one of them.]
        3. If the Test and Evaluation Report made for the CE Mark, was
performed by an NRTL "accredited" ( iI think is not the best term) by
CSA , then your product may have a chance to have some tests
"transferred" and accepted by CSA but with some further investigation of
: the product and the Factory....
        4. If you need ONLY a Canadian Certification Mark, you may have
the choice for one of the following Marks: CSA Mark issued by CSA; cETL
Mark issued by INTERTEK TESTING SERVICES, or cUL issued by UL.
        5. If you are the manufacturer AND the Evaluation which was made
for the CE Mark was performed by one of the above mentioned NRTL Labs,
you have the right to ask the same LAB to perform the following steps in
order to obtain the Canadian Certification based on the previous Report,
Initial Plant inspection, Labeling agreement, etc.

Respectfully yours,
