I would assume that, whoever the NEC is, they are concerned with U.S.A.
only. Actually, the question arises only if you have equipment for
permanen connection or hard-wiring, where the U.S. electrician has to
get to the wires. Otherwise, as with desk top equipment, I would suggest
(if anybody cares) to use an appliance inlet per IEC 320 and a power
cord set with the appropriate plug and, of course, the correct color
code as required by the market place.
NEC Art. 310-12 would be suggested reading, because it also deals with
flat cables, etc.
