Richard, I had a look at the BSI site, and after several layers of unwanted pages, got to their standards search engine with a URL of http://bsonline.ihserc.com/BSONLINE/search/standardsearch/DWSearch.asp?L S=&LR=&LD=&Src=default.asp&Dest=Search/StandardSearch/ResetSearch.asp&La st=&SessID=&MSCSID=892MVW5VKQS12P1C00J74NQ2P0KG95B4&ErrID=&SessStat=&Par ent=&Child=&PCount=0&LogStat=&URLData=
A search for specs matching *EN* with keyword railway gave over 40, some of which are probably applicable to crossing gates. However, even with the world's best protection systems, there will be idiots trying to circumvent them. As a fireman on a preserved steam railway line, I have had my share of cyclists and pedestrians, who despite repeated whistles, feel that 200 tons of train will be able to stop from 10MPH in under 25 yards (100 year old locos do not use metric units). It is probably not a coincidence that the buffer beams of British steam locos are painted blood red :-) Regards, Geoff Lister geoff.lis...@motionmedia.co.uk Senior Engineer Motion Media Technology Ltd., Horton Hall, Horton, Bristol, BS37 6QN, UK Direct: +44 (0) 1454 338561 ISDN: +44 (0) 1454 338554 Switchboard: +44 (0) 1454 313444 Fax: +44 (0) 1454 313678 On 11 November 1999 18:24, Richard Lanzillotto [SMTP:rl...@concentric.net] wrote: > Is the machinery directive applicable for the such a gate > and it's control electronics?
