Good answer, but I'll just add a little note. Look at your follow up
services report it possible that the power supply is identified in their by
the file number as well. The inspector just matches the call-out in the
report to the component in front of them. If the inspector can find the same
marking - regardless of whether it is a name or file number etc - then its
essentially time to move to the next component. I would follow up with
Mike's advice and have a printout of that section of the directory and know
what page and volume its found out. During the inspection just guide the
inspector to that section of the book where they can confirm it for
themselves. I do the same thing for printed circuit cards because they
usually have a logo rather than a name or file number. Saves us a lot of
time during inspections and some potential grief with the inspector. I do it
for my self audits anyway and store all of it in a product folder near my
follow up files. I bring the whole mess along for the product inspection.

Hi Amund,

Since your power supply is UL Recognized "RC" the only identifying markings
are "make" & "model". There is no "Listed" or "XXXX" (control number) or
category (such as ITE). For many categories, including power supplies, UL
allows the file number to be used instead of the company name, so it sounds
like your situation is ok. Proof is when the UL inspector tries to match it
up with their RC Directory - could take some time to search the book. I
suggest you surf ul.com & search the certifications database for the file
number (check that the model is there) so you can direct the UL inspector to
the right place in the book.

Good luck, Mike Harris/Teccom
