While you state that the product is not lighting or sound related, does
it include video? EN 55103-1&-2 relates to "audio, video, audio-visual
and entertainment lighting control apparatus for professional use".

Even if your client's product does not apparently come under this
standard, it is one worth examining since the product may be surrounded
by equipment that does fall within its scope. The standard is very good,
having emission and immunity levels related to the electromagnetic
environment of use. It also includes requirements specific to this
industry, magnetic fields in particular. Emissions are tested over the
range 50 Hz to 50 kHz with immunity covering the range 50 Hz to 10 kHz.
If your client's product is tested to other standards, the audio magnetic
fields would be omitted.

If you consider a typical theatrical venue with vast amounts of audio
gear in the vicinity and not forgetting magnetic fields from high powered loud
speakers, it is possible that your client's product could either
interfere with the theatre's installation or malfunction because of the
magnetic field strengths.

Neil Helsby
