Hi Angus,

The answer is: It depends. Mostly on what the product is.

Some countries like Korea, Taiwan, and China enforce at least some requirements even for (non-radio, non-telecom) ITE at point of import. That is, if customs inspectors don't find the necessary approval labels/certificates they'll hold the shipment.

Radio transmitters are more tightly controlled nearly everywhere, for instance. Even if they made it through customs, it may not be legal to operate them, even just for demo purposes without some kind of approval and/or license.

Can you describe the product a bit more (intentional RF radiator? telecom network connections?)?

Hi Group:

My client wishes to import one or two units of some products to their
marketing representatives in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand,
China, Hong Kong. I have checked various regulatory sources, and I didn't
find any restrictions on importation of marketing samples.

The units are FCC and UL approved for North America, but have not been
submitted for approval in the destination countries. Are there some import
restrictions in place that I haven't found?

Any help is appreciated.
