Hi Sam,

A cable modem shall comply with the requirements of the EMC & LV Directive and
not to the RTTE Directive unless it can be connected (directly or indirectly)
to a public telecom network and/or has a radio interface. A cable modem is
also not considered as telecom terminal equipment, but t is part of the
network itself. I also belive that the cable network is (still) not considered
as a telecom network.

Best regards,

Kris Carpentier

Subject: Cable Modems

I am looking for the appropriate EU Directive and EMC and/or Telecom standard
to apply to cable modems. I suppose a cable modem could be considered
indirectly connected to the telecom network making it subject to the R&TTE
Directive. Does anyone have any opinions on which Directive to apply and
which product standard it fits best into?

Thanks

Kind Regards,
