Hi all I have a wallplug PSU approved for UL/CSA 60950. It is now included with a battery charger and together the 2 products are under an ETL approval according to UL 1310 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 223.
But ETL have the following finding: "A remark has occured when checking it to the Canadian standard CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 223-M91. In clause 4.5.1.4 for direct plug-in power supplies, there is a requirement for a minimum distance from the plug blades to the perimeter of the face section from which the blades project of 8 mm. I have measured the distance to 6.3 mm (according to drawing in the received doc. from UL it is 6.1 mm) Because of this the adapter would not be accepted according to the Canadian standard. The corresponding requirement in standard UL 1310-2005 is 5.1 mm, so the adapter would be accepted according to the standard for USA." Is there any agreements between CSA and UL to accept US plugs in Canada ? or is there any other way to solve this problem without having 2 different PSU for US and Ca. ? Why can UL/CSA 60950 accept this when CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 223-M91 can't ? (or have UL made a mistake when approving the PSU for CSA 60950 ?)
