Hi Richard, If you have one piece of malware you probably have more including some that commercial software may not be able to find, called a rootkit. You should disconnect the PC from the Internet until it is checked out. It could easily be sending out spam or your private information without you knowing it as well as sending spam to members of this list as well!
It takes a lot of caution and work to keep a Windows PC clean these days if you do not have an IT department to do it for you. I figure an hour's work per week and only connected to the Internet through a hardware NAT firewall, enough to cause me to dump Windows and migrate over to Unix (Mac OS X).
