Hi Curt, Not knowing what the product is I can't be 100% sure, but for many products we use AS/NZS 60335.1 with a part 2 standard. Other Australian standards that can be used are AS/NZS 3350.1, and possibly AS/NZS 3100, when combined with other specifications related to these two standards. ----- Original Message ----- From: Curt McNamara <mailto:mcnam...@umn.edu> To: emc-p...@ieee.org Sent: Thursday, 22 November 2007 4:06 AM Subject: Australian safety question A customer who manufactures a home appliance (rather unique) tests it to UL570 for the USA and EN60335-1 for the EU. I understand that they have been able to export it to other countries if a surge protector approved to UL 1449 with a 330V and 700 joule rating was required for installation (I don't know the details of this). The unit is approved for radiated emissions and immunity to Australian standards. Is the EN 60335-1 standard appropriate for export to Australia? If not, what other approach should they take? Thanks!
